About Me

My name is Jaimie (she/her) and I warmly welcome you to my page!

I'm a storyteller, diversity, equity, & inclusion advocate, creative producer, and communications expert. I'm the proud daughter of Chinese immigrants, and my story is their story — one of challenges, grit, growth, and opportunity.

My story began in my hometown of Houston, Texas and continued across five other states to lead me to Los Angeles, California. After graduating Duke University -- where I spent much of my time writing for the school newspaper, working at the Duke Women’s Center on gender equity activism, and performing as an actor in student productions -- I sought to make a difference in the world. I spent the next five years working in the non-profit and public sectors to inspire others and create lasting policy and cultural change.

My career first began at U.S. Public Interest Research Group (PIRG), where I created advocacy campaigns on economic justice and ran a door-to-door fundraising office on environmental conservation. Afterwards, I served in the Obama White House, first supporting then-Vice President Joe Biden’s landmark Cancer Moonshot initiative, and later working on gender violence prevention and response efforts as part of his Violence Against Women team. There, I was responsible for compiling and copy-editing Vice President Biden's Daily Briefing Book, and assisted in drafting memos and planning events for the VP. Following the end of the Obama Administration, I served as the communications director for U.S. Congressman Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) in the U.S. House of Representatives, where I oversaw his long-term strategic communications plan, developed social & digital media content, drafted press releases, speeches, and op-eds, and managed relationships with the press. During my tenure, I was the only female Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) to hold said title in all congressional offices.

I continued to work with nine of my White House colleagues to write a book – now a New York Times best seller – "Yes She Can," a young adult anthology of essays written by young women who share their stories of working in the Obama White House. And it was our stories — stories of diverse, young women working in the halls of power, stories of heartache, joy, determination, and gratitude, stories that I often didn’t see myself reflected around me — that inspired me to move to LA, where I could amplify more stories that deserved to be noticed.

I’m here to join the effort in making space for diverse and multicultural stories. I'm here to meaningfully engage with creatives to use entertainment platforms to elevate underrepresented voices and drive social change. Since settling in LA, I’ve developed creative projects for and associate produced short films for the Emmy-nominated New York Times Op-Docs series, ALMOST FAMOUS, alongside documentary production company, Breakwater Studios, and worked for Emmy-nominated writer and director, Sam Esmail.

Currently, I'm the Senior Director of Development and Director of Consultancy at Culture House Media, a Black, Brown, and Women-owned media company for premium film, television, and immersive experiences, as well as a robust cultural consultancy. In a time of deep social reckoning, Culture House makes entertainment forward work at the intersection of pop culture and politics and creates opportunities for women and BIPOC creators on both sides of the camera. I am also currently an adjunct instructor at the University of Southern California's Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism graduate program.

Previously, I worked as a Senior Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Facilitator at ReadySet, a high-touch consulting firm specializing in cultivating inclusive and equitable environments.

I currently serve on the Associates Board of the Hollywood Radio & Television Society (HRTS) and am a founding board member of Young Entertainment Activists (YEA). Formerly, I served as a judge for the Austin Film Festival's Script Competition, a writer’s mentor for the CineStory Foundation, and script reader for The Black List.

In my free time, I enjoy cooking, hiking, and podcasting for my show, Are You There, Universe?, a podcast exploring the intersection of mindfulness, social justice activism, and spirituality.

I'm a proud graduate of both Duke University (bachelor's) and the University of Southern California (master's).

I’m so grateful for your interest in my story, and I can’t wait to hear yours, and how I might be able to support it. My current clients span many industries - media companies, non-profits, foundations, impact agencies, and more. Whether it’s through creative development, DEI consulting, communications strategy, impact campaigns, or any of the other skills I can offer, let’s find a way to bring the story you want to tell, to life.
